Daxton-K®

DESCRIPTION: daxton®-K is a non-absorbable, sterile surgical monofilament suture, composed of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), with chemical formula (C2F4)n, that has been expanded to an ePTFE suture with a porous microstructure and contains air. The porous nature of the daxton®-K suture enables it to be swaged to needles that closely approximate the diameter of the thread, without compromising the strength of the needle attachment. daxton®-K is natural (undyed) and is white. daxton®-K, expanded PTFE sutures, due to its porous nature, is larger in diameter than the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for Non-absorbable Surgical Sutures.

CLINICAL PERFORMANCE CHARASTERISTICS: daxton®-K suture elicits minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissue, which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. ePTFE is not absorbed, nor is it subject to degradation or weakening by the action of tissue enzymes.

CLINICAL BENEFIT: daxton®-K ensures secure approximation and/or ligation in general soft tissue operations including cardiovascular surgery and dura mater repair. daxton®-K aims to evoke inflammatory response in tissue as minimal as possible.
