Dopace®

DESCRIPTION: DOPACE Temporary Pacing Wire (TPW) is a sterile single use, twisted 316L stainless steel wire, coated (sheathed) with colored polyethylene, with double needle, with or without anchor. Dopace consists of following par:

  1. Insulated multifilament conductor coated with colored polyethylene
  2. Uninsulated, multifilament wire (intracorporeal) electrode
  3. TPW may be presented as "anchored" type
  4. Intracorporeal curved needle
  5. Extracorporeal straight breakaway needle

DOPACE meets requirements established by the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for non-absorbable surgical sutures. USP diameter is only for steel wire (no insulation). DOPACE may also be labeled with the B&S gauge classifications.

CLINICAL PERFORMANCE CHARASTERISTICS: DOPACE provides a conductive connection between an external pacemaker and myocardium having one end stripped of insulation, and crimped to a curved taper point suture needle for facilitating fixation in the myocardium or if anchored; penetration through myocardium and fixation by anchor. Anchor is the stripped off and spread part of the insulation close to the curved needle. The other end of the insulated lead is conductively attached to a straight cutting edge Keith needle which is pushed through the thoracic cavity wall from the interior to the exterior. The Keith needle is equipped with a special break-off (breakaway) groove. The cutting part of the needle is broken off at the groove, and the stub forms an electrode plug which is connected to conventional pacing and monitoring equipment. If the electrode will be attached later, the electrode must be isolated in such a way that no exposed metal remains.

CLINICAL BENEFIT: Dopace provides a conductive connection between an external pacemaker and myocardium for temporary epicradial cardiac pacing or monitoring with a pacemaker and can be removed easily after temporary pacing is terminated.
